A Pharmacist and Social Entrepreneur, Alhaji Yakubu Layi Gobir has called on the people of Kwara state to come out en-mass and participate in Saturday’s Local government election. Alhaji Gobir who was reacting to Local government election during an interview said this is the only way the electorate can have a say in the governance and development of the local governments. He urged the voters to shun all acts of thuggery, hooliganism and ballot snatching. The Social Entrepreneur who is from Gambari ward in Ilorin East Local Government Area expressed concern over the level of neglect at the grassroots and said it is through participation and voting for the right candidate that development would take place at the third-tier of government. He commended the state electoral umpire and the state government for creating an enabling environment for all the political parties and the various candidates for participating in the exercise. Alhaji Yakubu Gobir enjoined the people of the state to vote enmass for all the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) particularly the chairmanship candidate of the party in Ilorin East local government, Engineer Abdulmumeen Lah. The Social Entrepreneur, who is the Waziri Kasar Hausa, however appealed to the successful candidates that emerge winners in the local government poll to take the issue of local government development as key in their agenda and urged the Federal government to adequately fund the third-tier of government.
