Date: 2018-03-06

A farmer and Chief Executive Officer of ZTA Farms Limited, Alhaji Uthman Apaokagi, has donated a transformer to Tafa Tafa community in Asa Local Government area of Kwara.

Apaokagi also donated a classroom to the only primary school in the community.

Speaking at the inauguration of the transformer and classroom, Apaokagi, whose farm is located in the community, said the donation was part of the farm's social responsibility to its host community.

Apaokagi added that the donation of the transformer would bring economic development to the community and improve the wellbeing of the people.

He called on the state government to provide infrastructural facilities in rural communities to check the rural-urban migration.

Apaokagi further said the classroom initiative was to reduce the hardship pupils of the school were facing.

Friends of the donor who were present at the inauguration pledged to furnish the classroom with desks and chairs as well as provide a staff room.

Inaugurating the facilities, the Tafida of Ilorin, Dr Amuda Aluko, said he was particularly happy over the development having encouraged the donor to venture into farming.

Aluko called on parents in the community to educate their children for them to become better citizens in future.

Alhaji Yekini Alajagusi, an indigene of Asa Local Government Area, also commended Apaokagi for the donation of the transformer and classroom.

He called on other well meaning indigenes of the state to emulate the good gesture of Apaokagi and invest in their communities.
