Football fans in Ilorin have called on the Super Eagles not to disappoint Nigerians in their next group match against Iceland on Friday. A Cross section of fans who said in Ilorin on Wednesday demanded for an improved performance from the Eagles after their decimal outing against Croatia in the opening match of the group D at the FIFA World Cup in Russia. Mr Wale Osho, a fan said the performance of the Eagles against Croatian was below expectations of Nigerians. "The Eagles performed poorly in their last match in spite all their preparations, they played without passion and as if they were forced to put on the jersey," he said. Mr Felix Aina another fan supported the claim; describing the Eagles' performance as 'woeful' and one of the poorest he has seen in recent times. "No cohesion, no urgency, no penetration or chances created, they look like a bunch of strangers who have never played together before, but who are put together on the pitch. If truly we are determined to qualify, the Eagles must play with purpose and play as a team against Iceland," he said. But Malam Yusuf Usman another fan offered a different perspective, saying that he expected the Eagles to bounce back from their disappointing outing so as to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians. "I know the players are capable of doing more than what we saw against Croatia, I will only advice the coach to do away with players who are not ready to give their best to the team. I expect the Eagles to turn the situation around by winning the remaining two matches and progress to the next round," Usman said. He, however, called on Nigerians to continue to support the team by offering prayers and other forms of support.
